The New Balance 1080 is better than ever.
New Balance gave the 1080v9 a slab of Fresh Foam that runs from the heel to the toe. The new, full-length midsole makes the 1080 softer and more cushioned than the 1080v8 while still delivering a speedy ride. In the Fleet Feet New Balance 1080 v9 review, testers loved how the big midsole provided protection against unforgiving pavement but didn't weigh the shoe down.
The durable blown rubber outsole protecting all that foam uses different blocks of color to show off New Balance’s pressure mapping process. Designers took data from real runners to map where their feet put the most pressure on the ground. The result is an outsole that caters to how you run.
New Balance covered the shoe in engineered jacquard mesh intended to give you a better fit, and a midfoot wrap locks your foot into place while allowing enough room in the forefoot to let your toes splay during landings.
From the sole to the laces, the updates make the v9 the best 1080 yet.
